Every young person should have a place to call home and the crisis of youth homelessness disproportionately impacts the youth from the foster care system that StepStones serves.
But with your support, we can all make a difference! Welcome to our 3rd annual A Home for the Holidays campaign in support of our homelessness prevention programs.
In celebration of StepStones for Youth being recognized as one of the top 100-rated charities in Canada in 2023 by Charity Intelligence, our generous foundation partner has agreed to match all donations (up to a maximum of $30,000)... This means that for a limited time, your gift has twice the impact!

Last year was a record holiday season for support for A Home for the Holidays. Help us beat that record and reach our goal!
Our team has been busier than ever this year, supporting a higher number of young people in and from foster care due to the end of the provincial moratorium that allowed youth to remain in their palcements during the pandemic even after turning 18. With multiple cohorts exiting the system at once, the demand for our unique services has significantly increased.
Our programs prevent homelessness, poverty, and intergenerational dependency on social systems by connecting youth in and from foster care with extended family members and community allies who provide long-term housing solutions and unconditional care and support.
For youth who need a place of their own, StepStones works with youth to find apartments, meet landlords, source furniture and housewares, and even help out on moving day! Our programs also provide housing subsidies for youth to ensure they can secure safe and stable housing in their communities.
StepStones was recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Charities by Charity Intelligence in 2023 and as a National Making the Shift Homelessness Prevention Awards 2022 winner for our innovative approach to ending youth homelessness in Canada.
Help make a house a home by providing essential household items like bedding, cookware, or a stocked fridge.
Give a youth much needed assistance on moving day such as providing a rental truck and StepStones staff to help support.
Provide a youth with a rental subsidy for 1 month so they can afford to stay in their home while they receive assistance re-enrolling in school and applying for jobs.
Enable the StepStones team to undertake the intensive process of research, applications, and advocacy needed to find safe and secure housing for a young person in our Building Connections program for a full year.
